A one-of-a-kind "Blue Angels" edition 2012 Ford Mustang GT produced by a select design and engineering team at Ford Motor Company sold for $400,000 at the Gathering of Eagles charity auction Thursday evening. The auction took place during the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) AirVenture Oshkosh 2011, the world's greatest aviation celebration. A man from California purchased the vehicle.

Ford’s engineers and designers have set out to come up with a one-of-a-kind creation to celebrate and pay tribute to the black Tuskegee Airmen who flew P51 Mustangs and bombers in World War II, aptly known as the Red Tails. Tomorrow, Ford will join an exclusive gathering at the EAA Air Venture in Oshkock, Wisconsin with its customized Red Tails Edition Mustang sporting a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 under the custom painted bonnet pushing over 600 horsepower.

As the exclusive automotive sponsor of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, a world-famous air show, Ford has gone all out to create a unique U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Edition 2014 Ford Mustang GT. This custom vehicle – which sports VIN 0001 – is being auctioned off to support the EAA Young Eagles program, which has provided free introductory flights to more than 1.6 million young people since 1992.
